Note: This blog entry is meant as a general introduction to there.com. I am including some basic information and details to various friends and associates in case they would like to learn more about the game for future meetups, virtual conferences, presentations, etc.

A subscription is necessary to join there.com as a full member. The monthly fee is $10 per month and allows you to use both text and voice chat. There is also an option to pay a $1.00 fee (one time) and have access to text chat but not voice. You are free to be a member for one month only and then cancel your subscription.

When you sign up for there, you create a male or female avatar. The there.com client only takes a couple minutes to download, and then you will arrive at a welcome center. Helpers are usually there to assist new members and show you around. If you would like to contact me after entering the world, my avatar name is matthewkg

I started this blog in 2025, not long after I created my cafe-bookstore on Mango Market Island on there.com. Mango Market is a group of shops, stores, and my Words and Lyrics Cafe. Over the past year, I have hosted numerous events and activities here, including concerts, movies, and podcast-listening events.

One of my goals for this summer is to get some new presenters for Words and Lyrics -- singers, comedians, author readings, etc. I think it would also be fun to host a gathering of writers here. In addition to my cafe, I have two houses on the game, and there are numerous places to host events.

I have also included a few blog articles below. I recommend clicking the YouTube link in "Glob's New Video and Recent Events"(I Spent 100 Days in a Dead Game) to see some of the people and their experiences in this virtual world, which has been in existence since 2003!

  Glob's YouTube sequel video dropped on May 24th, 2026, and I think most thereians would agree it was well worth the wait.  The first half unfolded like the director's cut of a popular film, and I thought it was fun and insightful to see extended conversations and various scenes play out in the sequel. I Spent 100 Days in a Dead Game I know some people in the comments section of YouTube were not happy with this format, but that's why the fast-forward button exists, of course. I had an afternoon free and was perfectly content with a nearly one-hour running time. Upon finding out about the video's Sunday-afternoon release, I quickly created a watch-party event at my cafe and had a decent-sized crowd show up. Shout-out to Cazz_luv for creating a promo poster on the fly! Seeing various friends and familiar faces show up in Glob's video was cool. Concert Under the Stars...

  On Saturday, March 7th, Words and Lyrics Cafe hosted musician Franklyn Woods for a two-hour concert. The event was a big success, with 35 people enjoying all or parts of the show. A special thank you goes to thereian Schlafstimulans  for helping out with the set up and soundchecks! Speaking of sound, pretty much everyone thought Franklyn sounded great on his Youtube livestream. He went through an impressive and wide-ranging catalog of original tunes infused with country and folk vibes. Franklyn also talked about how he often enjoys small venues rather than bigger spaces, since the audience's reaction is more up-close and personal in places like coffee shops and cafes.
