  England and Norway will square off in today's World Cup quarterfinals, and I am hosting a watch party at Words and Lyrics Cafe/Mango Market to enjoy the match. As some of you know, I am an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, but I do enjoy watching soccer/football during the World Cup and Olympics. Doors open at 4:30 pm Eastern Time, and kickoff is at 5:00 pm. I think we are in for some exciting and intense gameplay with dynamic playmakers on both teams.  I guess I am officially neutral in this one but will probably find myself rooting for England.   I randomly decided to title this entry as the "dog days of summer" since they officially run from July 3rd to August 11th, 2026. As far as real-world activities are concerned, I attended a really nice Writing Conference at Seton Hill University near Pittsburgh a few weekends ago. It was a lot of fun, and I am going to post a more in-depth article on that experience on my Words and Lyrics bookshelf blog in the near future. I have also really enjoyed watching the soccer World Cup; the matches have been exciting, and it was great to see the U.S. advance before they were knocked off by Belgium. As the tournament progresses, I would like to host a few watch parties at Words and Lyrics so I will keep everyone posted on that.
