Thank you, readers!

My blog has been getting a lot of views recently, which I very much appreciate. I think the Halloween articles have provided a nice boost in readership, particularly my interview with horror-movie blogger Brian Collins. He has 15,000 followers on X, so I am assuming some of them made their way here. The more, the merrier.

I think the R.L. Stine article also increased my numbers, and I still have some content from that event I will post in the near future. At the book festival, I purchased Secrets From a Serial Killer by up-and-coming author J.C. Moore. I also attended Mr. Moore's presentation on his novel and asked to do a short interview with him, to which he agreed. So that article is currently in the pipeline.

I attended pennylouise's buggy-jumping event on Saturday night and had a fun time. I didn't expect to be doing a full loop before launching off a ramp, though! LOL   Also had a few successful launches during the night and was pleasantly surprised to drive away with some cash. Thank you, penny; you helped cover my rent for the next two months!

Last night, I joked with Reiju that eliminating him from the bash arena and taking first place was going to be headline news on my blog the next day. This guy is a super-tough opponent, and I felt very fortunate to get him at least once last night. He's not a bad writer, either. Thank you to jen_007 for serving up an evening of motor mayhem and Halloween tongue-twisters!

Horror Homage

During the month of October, I have decided to focus on things that frighten us in popular culture. First and foremost are horror movies, of course. While growing up in the 1970s, I was fortunate to see movies like The Exorcist , Jaws , and The Amityville Horror on the big screen. Actually, I was WAY too young for The Exorcist , but my brother and I somehow talked our mom into seeing it with her. BIG mistake. LOL While browsing movie reviews online recently, I came across a blog that I remembered from years past -- "Horror Movie a Day." I was amazed that the reviewer, Brian Collins, watched at least one horror movie per day for YEARS on end. Over a six-year period, he viewed and reviewed thousands of them, with a peak year of 553 horror movies in 2007. Although Brian's movie-reviewing output has dropped since then, he still regularly reviews scary films. And since I have my own blog now, I decided to contact Brian and ask for an interview. He graciously complied, and t...

Glob's New Video and Recent Events...

Glob's YouTube sequel video dropped on May 24th, 2026, and I think most thereians would agree it was well worth the wait.  The first half unfolded like the director's cut of a popular film, and I thought it was fun and insightful to see extended conversations and various scenes play out in the sequel. I Spent 100 Days in a Dead Game I know some people in the comments section of YouTube were not happy with this format, but that's why the fast-forward button exists, of course. I had an afternoon free and was perfectly content with a nearly one-hour running time. Upon finding out about the video's Sunday-afternoon release, I quickly created a watch-party event at my cafe and had a decent-sized crowd show up. Shout-out to Cazz_luv for creating a promo poster on the fly! Seeing various friends and familiar faces show up in Glob's video was cool. Over the past year, I have gotten to know Mortazel, Nuvora, and PumpkintoGo pretty well. Mistyaqua, Mortazel, and PumpkintoGo...

Concert Under the Stars...

On Saturday, March 7th, Words and Lyrics Cafe hosted musician Franklyn Woods for a two-hour concert. The event was a big success, with 35 people enjoying all or parts of the show. A special thank you goes to thereian Schlafstimulans  for helping out with the set up and soundchecks! Speaking of sound, pretty much everyone thought Franklyn sounded great on his Youtube livestream. He went through an impressive and wide-ranging catalog of original tunes infused with country and folk vibes. Franklyn also talked about how he often enjoys small venues rather than bigger spaces, since the audience's reaction is more up-close and personal in places like coffee shops and cafes. I also wanted to express my appreciation for everyone that helped STUFF the tip jar during the evening. Very generous indeed! Also a thank you to Rowdi_Designs for providing everyone with flaming banana drinks -- it gave me a flashback to an early 90s Van Halen concert where audience members were setting their ...
