"Born and raised where city meets country, Franklyn Woods finds inspiration for his emotive songs in the vast fields of the Fraser Valley, and the train-tracks and alleys lining the core of his small-town home, Matsqui, BC. Driven by his passion for writing and making music, Woods' soft-spoken, “alternative country” style blurs the edge between downhome and downtown..."

Franklyn's Website

I would like to thank Rowdi_Designs for her sponsorship of Franklyn's concert this weekend at Words and Lyrics. She has generously provided TWO prizes for giveaways -- 10k in therebux and a green hoverbike. So be sure and check out her shop (next to mine) before or after the concert and browse the latest styles.

Gabby dropped by Words and Lyrics the other morning, and we had a nice time chatting about random topics. Later, he even donned an apron and worked the counter for a while. ☺I'm always grateful when thereians step up and contribute in some way or another -- so make sure to hit up that tip-jar on Saturday evening when Franklyn is entertaining everyone. All proceeds go to him!

After his shift, I decided to learn a bit more about what makes Gabby tick and interviewed him. Just a few quick, blog-friendly questions...

1. What made you join There.com?

I saw a YouTube video about it and got curious why people have stayed in the game for so long. I’ve always loved connecting with people and exploring different communities, so I decided to check it out.

2. Why did you decide to start a French club on There?

I created it because I wanted people to learn more about QuΓ©bec culture and the French language. Since I spend all day learning English here, it felt like my way of giving something back. I also recently started a new club called Off-Timers, which is all about good vibes rather than language learning.

3. What is something that most people on There do not know about you?

Most people don’t know that I come from a big family — I have six siblings.

Make sure to drop in on Rococo Islands this weekend and see what's up. They have a stacked event-schedule to commemorate their 5-year anniversary, and it looks like they've got something for everyone. The karaoke last evening was a lot of fun, and I particularly enjoyed Dallas_7's rendition of With Eyes Wide Open by Creed!
