Open House and Get-Together
The weekend is coming up, and I have an event planned for this Friday evening on the 20th. It is an open house and get-together for people in my Words and Lyrics Club, new members, and all current members of there.com. Thought it would be nice to just chat and have some (relative) newbies meet some of the people in my there orbit -- the event will run from 6 pm to 9 pm, Eastern Time. Everyone is welcome to stop by for a few minutes or hang out for a while.
Last night, I hosted another True-Crime Podcast event that covered the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping. Misty and I were talking about how we really have not seen a kidnapping case like this is a very long time, and also how frustrating it is as time goes by with no real answers or clues emerging. I am starting to think she may have been taken to Mexico, which is only about an hour's drive from Tuscon, Arizona.
Mike Morford is the co-host of the Criminology Podcast, and we have known each other for a while on true-crime forums. We met for the first time in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the very first Crimecon in 2017, when Mike led a panel discussion on the Golden State Killer case. When listening to the presentation, I assumed there was NO hope of catching GSK because his last confirmed crime occurred in 1986. So I was amazed, as were a lot of people, when Joseph Deangelo Jr. was arrested in April, 2018.
The key element in catching Deangelo, of course, was utilizing genetic genealogy. Since unknown male DNA was also recovered from Nancy Guthrie's home, I am hoping that the perpetrator can be traced from living relatives as well. However, this may take a considerable amount of time, so I am hoping more clues will surface sooner rather than later.
Finally, here is a summary list of my 2025 events at my Words & Lyrics Cafe. And below that are some pics of some random events and adventures on there. Hope to see everyone here on Friday!
