Words and Lyrics

 I decided to attend last Sunday's inaugural live-auction event at Mango Market, mostly out of curiosity but also to see if there were any bargains to be had. A decent-sized crowd showed up, and Cazz Luv served as the auctioneer. I ended up bidding on 4 different hats/hairstyles and won three of them. The process was pretty easy and seamless -- you just typed in your bid amount in the group IM and waited to see if anyone input a higher amount. There was a large, decorative tree on stage that sparked a bidding battle, with the winner ultimately paying around 15k and change. I had to leave after about 45 minutes because of work-related obligations, but I came away impressed with what I experienced. You have a really good chance to pick up some bargains, and the bidding process creates an additional sense of drama and excitement. I walked away with three items and only paid a total of 6.2k. Already looking forward to the next auction!

  We had a pretty good turnout for the Jaws watch party on Saturday evening. It was fun watching the movie with a group and talking about the things that make it so thrilling and scary. Just seeing how logistically challenging this movie was made me think Jaws should have won a few more Academy Awards than it did. Jaws' film shooting schedule was supposed to last 55 days but actually took 159. And the performance by Robert Shaw is incredible. Academy Awards won by Jaws Best Film Editing (Verna Fields), Best Sound, Best Original Score (John Williams) Club Wow was also a lot of fun last Friday evening, and the shark-week(end) vibe was going strong all night. Incredibly, the dance floor was never closed down despite a number of fins being spotted! A special shout-out to Club Wow for promoting my Jaws watch party on Saturday.
