Apollo 11 Moon Mission

I am planning to have another watch party on July 19th at 8:00 pm, Eastern Time in the USA. Our next movie will be "First Man." This film details the life of astronaut Neil Armstrong and his leadership on the Apollo 11 mission to the moon. The moon landing took place on July 20th, 1969. "First Man" is available for streaming on sites such as Amazon and Apple TV, and I will post links as we get closer to Saturday, July 19th. First Man - Official Trailer (HD) In 2005, Neil Amstrong gave an interview with the CBS program 60 Minutes. One of the highlights of the interview is when famed broadcaster Walter Cronkite joins Ed Bradley and Neil in discussing the moment when Apollo 11 touched down on the moon.  Hope everyone that celebrated the 4th of July weekend had an enjoyable and fun time! Just posting a few photos from present and past that capture the spirit of Independence-Day weekend. Kate set up a fireworks event on Friday evening, and I stopped by to enjoy the show for a while. Also enjoyed chatting with Kate, Jess, Mr. Greenlight, and BABS. Very well-planned and fun event!                                                                                                                                                                     I actually took this photo in 2021,...

Why the Founding Fathers May Be the Greatest Generation In the pantheon of American history, the Founding Fathers stand as a generation of extraordinary resolve, vision, and sacrifice. While later generations faced global wars and civil upheaval, the founders confronted a different kind of crucible: the deliberate choice to defy the most powerful empire on Earth — with no guarantee of success, safety, or survival. They Risked Everything — Literally When 56 men signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776, they weren’t just making a political statement. They were committing high treason against the British Crown. The penalty? Death. Many of them paid dearly: Nine signers died during the war, some from wounds, others from hardship. Dozens lost their homes, fortunes, or families to British retaliation. Some were imprisoned, tortured, or forced into exile. None recanted their decision, even under duress. As Thomas Jefferson wrote, they pledged “our lives, our fortunes, and our s...
